Lunch Time

This cub was about six months old and had already mastered the art of “rock turning”.  We were watching his progress in late May of last season and every day it had some new skill to show us.

June Bears (3 of 3)

Late May the grizzlies show up in the Glendale estuary. Out of hibernation and looking for food. Some bears are in much better shape, after a long winter, than other bears. This one is in good shape.  And the reason the mothers keep their cubs away from the Cove.

Late May to early June the mother grizzlies bring their cubs to the beach for the first time. They tend to stay away from Glendale Cove until the cubs are a several weeks older. The first few appearances on the beach the cubs either run to the bushes to hide or stay very close to their mothers.
